At Chartwell, we believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, and connected. Wellbeing and safeguarding are at the heart of our school culture, shaping how we support every student academically, socially, and emotionally.
Together, they help create an environment where children feel valued, develop confidence, build positive relationships, and thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
We believe education is about more than academic achievement. Through positive relationships, emotional development, and a strong sense of belonging, we help students build the skills and confidence needed to navigate life successfully.
Our approach encourages students to develop self-awareness, resilience, empathy, and respect for others while fostering a culture of kindness, inclusion, and community.
As part of our commitment to student wellbeing, Chartwell integrates SEE Learning (Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning), developed by Emory University.
SEE Learning helps students strengthen emotional awareness, relationship skills, compassion, ethical understanding, and responsible decision-making, supporting both personal growth and academic success.
Safeguarding is embedded within daily school life and reflects our commitment to ensuring that every child feels safe, respected, and valued.
Through clear procedures, ongoing staff training, student education, and strong partnerships with families, we create an environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive with confidence.
Our approach focuses on prevention, early intervention, and fostering a culture where students feel comfortable seeking support and sharing concerns whenever they need to.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement and international best practice, Chartwell is currently progressing through the COBIS compliance process, which is expected to be completed during this academic year.
This ongoing journey supports the continuous review and strengthening of our safeguarding systems, ensuring they remain aligned with recognised international standards and responsive to the needs of our community.
Wellbeing and safeguarding are not standalone initiatives. They are woven into the daily life of the school and shape how we care for, support, and protect every member of our community.
Through this commitment, we help ensure that every student feels secure, empowered, and ready to flourish both academically and personally.
Welcome to our Wellbeing and Safeguarding Community.
At Chartwell, we believe that children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and genuinely connected to the people around them. Wellbeing and safeguarding are not separate from education—they are at the heart of everything we do. They provide the foundation that allows our students to grow with confidence, develop resilience, and thrive both academically and personally.
Our approach to wellbeing is proactive, inclusive, and deeply rooted in our school culture. We strive to create an environment where every student feels valued, respected, and heard. Through meaningful relationships, strong pastoral care, and a focus on social and emotional development, we support students in building the skills they need to navigate challenges, develop positive relationships, and flourish throughout their educational journey.
Safeguarding is a shared responsibility across our entire community. We are committed to creating a culture where students feel secure, families feel supported, and concerns are addressed with care, professionalism, and sensitivity. Every member of our team plays a role in ensuring that the wellbeing and safety of our students remain our highest priority.
A key part of our work involves partnering closely with families. We believe that when schools and parents work together, children benefit most. Through open communication, workshops, guidance, and shared learning opportunities, we aim to empower families and strengthen the support network surrounding each child.
As Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), I work closely with students, families, teachers, and external professionals when additional support is needed, ensuring that every child receives the care and guidance appropriate to their individual circumstances.
Above all, our goal is simple: to create a school community where every child feels safe, happy, and able to be themselves. A place where wellbeing is nurtured, relationships are valued, and every student is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Thank you for being part of our community.
Warm regards,
Andrea Rivas
